The Steve Clell Maddox File

Age:
18
Major/Future Occupation:
Undecided
Native of:
Texas
Years running:
6
Started running because:
I was too small to play football or basketball, I wasn't interested in soccer anymore, and I found out that running earned me a lot respect.
I knew I was hooked on running when:
I followed everything my running hero Trenton Hall did.
Favorite places to run:
Woods and secluded trails, usually alone.
Current weekly mileage:
40-50
PR's:
400m: 53.13; 800m: 1:57; 1500m: 4:01; 1600m: 4:14; 3200m: 9:13; 3mi: 14:20; 5k: 14:57 Note: everyone of these are goin' down baby!
Best or most satisfying performance ever:
I don't really think I've ever had a "best" or "most satisfying" performance. I always seem to screw up somewhere in the race. Maybe I should learn from this....hmmmmmm.
Most recent race:
Texas Tech home cross country meet, I sucked horribly.......16th in 28:57. Hey, I was only 2 minutes off pace!
Favorite race:
My junior year of high school at the regional cross country meet. I ran freakin' out of my mind and set the course record.
One of my misconceptions about running was:
"I can get back in shape in 2 weeks. Don't worry coach." What a liar I turned out to be.
Any pre-race superstitions?
NO! Either you can do it or you can't!
Training philosophy/schedule:
"I wonder what Ritzenhein is doing right now?" Schedule?: Whenever I can.
Training diet:
If it's food and it won't kill me right away, give it to me.
One piece of advice I'd give to other runners is:
Be patient and don't over train.
If I could go on a social/training run with any person, living or dead, it would be:
Definately Steve Prefontaine.
When nobody's looking, I like to:
Sing like a fool.
In a movie of my life, I would like to be played by:
Vin Diesel. See the muscular resemblance?
Favorite restaurants:
Anything really nice where you can't get away for less than $100, even if the food sucks. I like an extremely nice atmosphere.
Favorite movie:
The Fast And The Furious
Favorite book:
Do car magazines count?
My least favorite physical feature:
C'mon man, you gotta love yourself.
One of my hidden talents is:
I can play the kazoo like nobody's business.
My idea of a dream vacation is:
If I really explained it, we would be here all day. But in short, definately on a remote island away from the business of the world. Just a special companion and myself to be together and do as we please without worry of anyting else other than when the next time we touch will be.
Other interests:
CARS! REALLY FAST CARS! Biking, camping, hiking; a lot of outdoors type stuff.
What was your first impression of Tech?
"Hmmmmmmm........I don't know. Well, what the hell. Cotton fields and dust storms, here I come!"
The most impulsive thing I've ever done is:
Ohhhhh......crap. Uhhhhh.....something that I can tell about.......ummmmm........comming to Tech. That was pretty much a split second decision.
One thing that other track team members would love to know about me is:
I'm really not that cocky or that bad. We just haven't connected yet. There's a lot about me that you probably don't know, or I just haven't shown. I guess at times I'm a little intimidated about showing my true self to others.
What would you want written on your tombstone?
Live life to it's fullest and don't take anything for granted, or you'll regret it like I did.
Quote:
If you fall down, get up. If you fail, find what you did wrong and correct it. But above all, believe in yourself.
